After running the Department of the Interior Premium Rear Side Consoles in both our pre-facelift and facelift 79 Series Dual Cab LandCruisers, they’ve become one of our favourite interior upgrades for improving practicality, storage, and touring comfort.
The 79 Series is an incredibly capable touring platform, but factory interior storage is definitely limited — especially for rear passengers and touring setups carrying lots of gear. The DOTI Premium Rear Side Consoles make excellent use of the otherwise wasted space beside the rear bench seat, adding functional storage and convenience without compromising passenger comfort or rear access.
One of the biggest reasons we love these consoles is how versatile they are for custom touring setups. In both of our LandCruisers, we integrated air compressor outlets into the mounting panels to create multiple air-up points from inside the cabin — making tyre inflation setups far more convenient while travelling Australia and touring remote tracks.
Built tough using marine bonded plywood and finished with premium French seam upholstery, these consoles blend perfectly into the 70 Series interior while adding a much more refined and practical feel to the cabin. The custom DeluxeTrim vinyl closely matches the factory interior, giving everything a clean OEM-style appearance.
Each console includes a jumbo cup holder, storage pocket, and mounting panel, making them ideal for storing drinks, cables, recovery gear, radios, charging accessories, or everyday touring essentials. Thanks to the clever design, rear passenger foot room and access remain unaffected.
Installation is simple with no drilling required, using the supplied mounting plate and factory mounting locations to avoid damaging the vehicle.
